ACM Special Interest Groups

ACM/SIGCHI

Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (ACM/SIGCHI)

This special interest group brings together people working on the design, evaluation, implementation, and study of interactive computing systems for human use. It provides an international, interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas about the field of human-computer interaction (HCI). It serves as an international venue for specialists in human-computer interaction, education, usability, interaction design, computer supported cooperative work, and other related areas.

Members are interested in keeping up with changes in the rapidly evolving field of human-computer interaction. They lead research and development in the field —designing and evaluating new user interfaces, making computers easier to use, and extending technology into new domains for new users.

    Benefits
  • Conferences
  • CHI Achievement and Fellow Awards
  • Publications
  • HCI-Sites
  • HCI-Bibliography

ACM/SIGDOC

Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on Documentation (ACM/SIGDOC)

SIGDOC is a Special Interest Group for Documentation a society of senior communication professionals. Members are from all technical and scientific disciplines, those who create documentation in the computing community and those who use computers to create documentation in many styles and media.

SIGDOC provides a forum on documentation and user support for computer products and systems. The SIG studies and publishes on processes, methods, and technologies for communicating information via printed and online text, hypermedia, and multimedia. Members include technical communication professionals, educators, and researchers, as well as system designers, developers, usability specialists, and managers responsible for producing or supervising the creation of documentation, online help systems, and user interfaces.

    Benefits
  • Annual conference
  • The Journal of Computer Documentation, a quarterly journal
  • Membership directory
